Hi all,

I've finally located the John Kelly I think is my grandfather (in Gort, Galway) but I had to make an assumption (that John had a brother named Martin) in the process. I think it's a safe assumption but I would feel better if it was not an assumption at all. What would really help is a record showing the name of John's father--so, his marriage record.

I have not been able to find that anywhere online, so I'm thinking maybe it's in the church records but somehow did not get entered or did not get entered correctly.

Mary Malley was born in 1875, parents Mark Melia and Bridget Gegan Melia/Malley/O'Malley. John and Mary's first child, Stephen Kelly, was born in Dec 1900. I'm guessing that would make their marriage date some time in 1899 or 1900. Stephen's baptism record (from rootsireland) gives his address as Kilamoran.

The John Kelly I think is the correct one would have been born in 1881 and died in 1922 (I'm sure of the 1922 death, but not the birth year--at all). His father would have been Thomas Kelly and his mother Margaret Corbett Kelly. I can post a long explanation of why I think that's the correct John Kelly if anyone wants me to.

Is there by any chance someone who can look somewhere I have not thought of for John and Mary's marriage record?

Thanks,
Tery Griffin
