Margaret McCarthy and Michael Hickey - Cork and Waterford

My grandfather was from Ireland and emigrated to Boston shortly after WWII. His name was Daniel Gartland. I would really like a starting point to get to know the area where he was from.

Similarly there are 3 Michael Hickeys 1818 + - 1 year in Waterford

There are several Daniel Gartland birth/baptism records on www.rootsireland.ie/

There are a couple in Tyrone 1905 which are the most recent

If you think this could be him I can find the parish; the other recoent one is GARLAND 1907 Westmeath but there were transcription and illiteracy issues

Got the Parish/District .. Midleton .. Wondering if that is typically where the wife is from or if it matters.
