Hi, Researching McCormack family background, found out today that my great,great grandad was born in Longford, possibly a small town 20 miles north of Castle Bar rather than Co Longford. His name was William McCormack, born 1789, possibly married to Ellen (maiden name unknown) they had a number of children of which i think Bridget, Peter Elenor and mary where born in Ireland before the family moved to Hollywel in Wales.
So if anyone can shed any further light on this, it would be great to know more as I believe the McCormack name is well known around Castle Bar.

These "Cormicks" were in Addergoole civil parish--Castlebar is in another parish--in the 1796 Flax Growers List.
One of them was name Peter Cormick, and your Wm. had a son Peter. Just passing this along.

Thanks Patricia, i have found a marriage registration for William McCormack and Ellen Dunleavey, but no further information on Williams parents or siblings in the area.
