MICHAEL McINTYRE was born 24 September 1816 in Kinvara, County Galway, Ireland, and died 5 August, 1890 in Ransom, Illinois. His first wife, Bridget___________,  was also born in County Galway, presumably in Kinvara, about 1819. She died in Springfield, Massachusetts on 5 September, 1848, age 29, and is buried there in St. Matthew Cemetery. .

Michael then married ELIZA McDonough in 1851 in Springfield, Massachusetts.  She was born 6 March, 1830 in Ireland, and died 9 August, 1908 in Chicago.

Together they had 10 children: Mary, Edward, Joseph, Michael, Elizabeth, Sarah, William, Catherine, Theresa, and Francis. MICHAEL bought farmland in LaSalle County, Illinois in 1852 and moved the family there in the 1860s.  Patrick McIntyre, likely his brother, also bought land there.

The above FRANCIS McINTYRE was my paternal great-grandfather. He was born 6 May, 1871 in Ransom, Illinois, and died 12 June, 1948 in Ransom.  He married MARY EMILY BRADY 12 February, 1895 at St. Patrick's Church in Chicago.

I am seeking information about the origins of MICHAEL McINTYREand his two wives, Bridget _________ and Eliza McDonough. They likely emigrated in the 1840s, probably first to Canada and then the United States.

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC records for Kinvara begin in 1831 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0632.  I searched on Roots Ireland but did not see a marriage record for Michael McIntyre. The parish register does have information on inhabitants who paid Christmas and Easter dues 1834-1835. Possibly you will find McIntyre records.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

You may also want to add your ancestors stories to our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database
