My 2x great grandfather was Michael McCue. He was born in Ireland in 1829 or 1830. Either he emigrated from Liveripool on the Ship Yorkshire to NY- USA in August 1852 with his father aged 50- so born 1801 or 02. Or he emigrated in December 1851 from Liverpool on the Ship Panola with several relatives- Patrick (aged32), John (22), Martin (22), Pat and Patrick ( a 1month old infant) Michael settled in White Plains, Westchester County, NY. On Griffth's Valuation list I found Michael McCue a tenant for Christopher St George in Ahascragh. I need help to locate Irish origins- no info here in USA.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, Catholic records for Ahascragh do not start until 1840:
This unfortunately, makes it difficult in terms of finding baptism records to confirm parish of origin.
It may be an idea to contact the East Galway Family History Society to see if they can assist with possible marriage records or birth records for other known family members. Here is their email:
Kind regards,
