Thomas O'Hara was born in Strabane around 1783; he was Catholic. He married Louisa Miller, a member of the Church of Ireland, in Limavady. They had a child, William, before emigrating to Philadelphia around 1819. William became bishop of Scranton, Pennsylvania. I would like to find further information about Thomas O'Hara's family of origin and their ties to the O'Haras of Sligo, if any.

  • The dates for this query are early so they are going to be relying on any surviving Church records.

Passenger Lists, plus the guides Brian produced are attached.

The Strabane Historical Society are also a great source of information for the region.

  • Given the absence of many records in Sligo until 1875...I would recommend finding another descendant.  Are there any children born in the USA?  Match a Y test from a male descendant to the FTDNA group.
