I have found a christening for a William Moore on familysearch.org but am not sure how to verify if it is my William Moore or not. I hae that he was born June 24, 1832 in Ireland and he died June 18, 1905 in Dickson County Tennessee. He married in Tennessee to S. Elizabeth Baird but that is all I have. Below is what I found on familysearch.org but I don't know if it is him due to me having so little information and him having such a common name. Can you tell me where to go to verify if this is him?

    I see what I can find, it will be nearly impossible to find the correct William in Ireland without knowing his parents names  even www.rootsireland.ie has 12 record matches for the birth year and name. My advise would be to get hold of the 1872 Tennesee marriage record and see if the parents names are mentioned on this. Once we have the parents name searching becomes a lot easier

  • That top one with the marriage is the right one. The marriage record I found does not list parents :( I have attached what I have. I am having such a hard time finding any information on him. I don't know if that passanger list is him or not. I thought he came over younger but info is so sketchy I am not sure.

    Did you get a death certificate , that might reveal his year or date of birth ?

  • No death certificate but I do have his tombstone. I also have a couple of census reports. I have attached them for you to see. I have emailed Tennessee where he died to see what else I can get from them since I am not in the same state. I am waiting to hear from them still.
