Hello All:

I am researching my family tree.  The last name is Rooney, they lived in 4 Smith's Lane in Charleville, according to the 1901 and 1911 census. The building was a shop and Kate Rooney (married name) born about 1865 was a widow in 1901 and a shopkeeper, her husband's name was Patrick Rooney.  They were all born in Charleville and roman catholic and their parish was Rathgoggan. Kate later remmarried Patrick Sullivan and they had a child in 1907.  I would like to find any records on Kate or Patrick Rooney her first husband, their daughter Annie is my 2 times great grandmother and I would love to find any records for her or anyone listed below.

Together they had 9 children,

John born about 1885, (moved to Liverpool before 1911)

Patrick born about 1886,

Mary born about 1888, (moved to Liverpool before 1911)

Annie born about 1889 (she is my great great grandmother), (moved to Liverpool before 1911)

Thomas born about 1891, (moved to Liverpool before 1911)

James born about 1893 (moved to Liverpool before 1911)

Katie born about 1894

David born about 1895 (died before the 1911 census)

Lizzie born about 1896

    I found an 1884 civil marriage index record for a marriage of a Patrick Rooney in the Kilmallock registration district which includes Rathgoggan civil parish. One of the possible spouses was a Catherine Nagle and it is likely that this is the record you are looking for. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1884.

    I also looked for a civil birth index record for Catherine Nagle. There were none recorded in 1865 but two in 1864. Those index records are below. Not sure which is for your Kate. However, once you get the marriage record, you will have the fathers name and then you can go back to the GRO and ask the GRO for the birth record .
