My g great grandfather, John Rooney born approx. 1831 in Tuam. Parent's names unknown. However, mother's maiden name may have been Higgins. His family moved to Liverpool when he was very young. He had a sister named Ellen. Another sister's name unknown. He immigrated to U.S. in approx. 1850 . Entered through the port of New Orleans. Ended up settling in St. Louis. Married Irish woman by the name of Margaret Jane Dervin. They had nine children. John served in the American Civil War. He became a St. Louis policeman. Later retired from the Force and owned several saloons in St. Louis. He died in St. Louis in 1901.

 John Rooney had cousins in St. Louis. There was Honorah and Bridget Higgins, whose parents were Michael and Honorah. There was also Michael Rooney and an unknown Kerwin. Also cousin named Catherine Rooney, married name, Fahey and also Ellen Rooney, married name O'Neill.

    The R C registers are free at https://registers.nli.ie/ and have Tuam baptisms 1811 to 1829 & 1829 to 1842 so it might be worth looking there as these aren't Tuam records I'm afraid John
