Very little info to go on so here's hoping someone might be searching the same family!
In the census of 1851, Belmont, Peterborough, Ontario - there is a Caleb Ryan and his wife Ellen. They are living with their daughter Dinah Jane and her husband Robert Bannon and their children.
Caleb and his wife Ellen Ryan were all born in Ireland but that is the only information that has been recorded. Daughter Dinah Jane Ryan was also born in Ireland but again, the place is unknown.
Caleb Ryan was born about 1791 and his wife Ellen was born about 1800 - both in Ireland. Dinah Ryan was born about 1820 - also Ireland. I have no idea if there were other children or not, nor do I know the place they lived, the ship they left on or the place they arrived.
The family was living in Ontario, Canada by about 1840 as Dinah married Robert Bannon about that time and all of their children were born in the Belmont area.
Caleb and Ellen Ryan disappear after that I have found no other census records for them and in fact, I have found no other information on any person named Caleb Ryan. This makes me wonder if Caleb was his middle name and perhaps he sailed on another name. Given that however, any ships records that I have found don't pull up a Dinah Ryan either. Short of this one entry for Caleb and Ellen Ryan, they don't seem to exist. I do believe however, that they were Catholic. The Bannons were not.

I agree in that Caleb is a pretty unusual name and thinking that, I fooled myself into believing it would be easier to follow a trail of those names but alas, it has been difficult.
Robert Bannon and his wife Dinah Ryan named their son Caleb Ryan Bannon, incorporating the names into the family line and it they all continued for another few generations!
As my Caleb was shown as 61 in the 1851 census in Ontario, that would remove him from the younger Caleb - however, the Caleb that shows a birthdate of 1818 may be a son, so this gives me a place to start looking around a little more.
