My family name is Riley and I Iive in Brisbane Australia

my father Frederick Riley was born in Montreal Canada his parents migrated from Liverpool UK.....My fathers parents were Laura Elenor Jones from Wales and George Frederick Riley from Liverpool UK.

I have traced the Riley's back to Ireland and I would be eternally gratefull if anyone could shed any more light on my heritage and fill in the missing pieces. The earliest was;

Reilly born abt 1770 in Ireland - he married Mary (?) born abt 1772 Ireland.  They had two son's Michael Reilley born abt 1811 and James Reilley born abt 1816.  Michael married Bridget Bradey(?) born abt 1812 in Ireland and died abt 1860.

Michael and Bridget had five children

Patt Reilley who married Mary

Francis Reiley

John Riley who married Elizabeth Andrews..(who I have decended from)

MaryAnn Reilley who married (Baines (?)

 Archibald Reilley

    I think I may have found some of your Reillys.

    I searched on a site called rootsireland.ie for Michael Riley born 1811 father's first name blank & mother's surname blank, first name mary in all counties and got 2 results - Dublin and Longford.

    I then searched with the same criteria for James 1816 and got 3 Dublin Kilkenny & Wicklow. As Dublin was the common one I found the parish of James's record in Dublin and it was St Pauls Arran Quay RC; I then checked Michael's and it was the same parish so looks like they are the Reilly brothers.

    rootsireland.ie is a pay site but if you purchase one of the birth records (either 1 will do) you should get the father's first name and Mary's surname. You can then find their marriage which will have parents' names to keep working back.
