Searching for Ancestors with surname Mountain

Hi Pam,

There are a number of public member trees on ancestry.com that have Francis born 1735 in Belfast, Antrim, married 1767 to Agnes ? (not on rootsireland) and died 1792 Jefferson, Georgia.

I could not find the birth record on www.rootsireland.ie/ to confirm it however; in fact, the only Mountain birth record I found was Catherine Mountain 1753 Waterford.

There are 67 Mountains in the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 (free search) which has 67 of them: 22 in Cork, 4 in Kerry, Carlow 2, Waterford 10 Kerry 8, 9 in Clare, Galway 6 etc but Antrim records are not included!

IGI - Family Search has 11 Mountains born in Ireland 1700-1799 but no Francis or Thomas

The census & voters records on ancestry start too late to find the family 

I tried to attach a tree page but it was over 50mb

I suggest you get onto ancestry and have a look at some of the trees which have the information - there are lots. If you can't if you provide an email address I'll send one to that but there are over 40 trees which have the above info so you might want to contact the owners to connect with others researching the Mountains

Thank you so much for taking time to do the search for the Mountains. Everything I pulled up was blank on the exact location. I will renew my Ancestry membership and check the records.

I am excited to learn all I can. I have been searching for my Irish connection for many years now and this was just a complete accident how I came upon the Mountain link.

          I am familar with Mountains in Waterford City and Dungarvan from now back to 1850.

Have no research done before that

Thank you for  your response to my inquiry on the Mountain surname.

I'm not really sure where to begin, it's all become so confusing the further I get into it. So many names and dates to keep straight that I have become lost again.

I don't know now if I truly do have Irish ancestors. The Catherine Mountain I was sure was born in Ireland seems to have been born in the USA and was married to Joseph Allen, Jr.

I have attached the most in depth information I have found thus far. Just in case you are curious.
