The family of Edward McCormick was still living on the land in Bracca, near Horseleap, in 1952.

Edward McCormick married Honora Dalton  both lived in Clara, Offaly, later they moved to Bracca, Westmeath near Horseleap.  The land was once part of the Maires Estate.

Their son, Edward, married Elizabeth Molloy.  Their daughter, Mary, married James Woods.  Son John married Anne Duffy.  And Honora married Thomas Clavin.

John McCormick and Anne Duffy remained on the land in Bracca, and so did their subsequent off-spring.

I'm trying to locate that farm or meet any McCormicks, Dalton's or Molloy's that still remain in the Horseleap area.

  • Hi Rosemary,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you to further your  research.

In the meantime, it may be an idea to contact the local parish priest. As there were McCormick?s living in the area in living memory he may know of someone who might remember the family or know of some relatives in the area. Here are the contact details for Clara parish (you will need to scroll down to find Clara):

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
