I am visiting Ballingarry from Australia on 23rd September and have read of the work of Bill Martin and Noreen Maher on Ireland XO News. I have done extensive research on my great grand father David Curtin born 15 August 1837, son of Timothy Curtin and Mary Hannan. I have found record of Timothy Curtin  in the Balingarry Tithe Applotment Books of 1827 in the Townlands of Ballyelane and Ballygrennan. However, I have never been able to find conclusive confirmation that this Timothy Curtin is the father of David Curtin, nor have I yet found documentation of the marriage of Timothy Curtin and Mary Hannan, nor chrisrening records of David or his siblings Edward and Jeremiah. My link to Ballingarry arises from a DNA test linking me to a Hannan descendent in Australia who has traced his ancestry to Hannans/Hannons of Ballingarry.

If possible I would like contact details for Bill or Noreen so I can contact either of them when I arrive. I have alengthy word document which I could also send if  I have a contact email address.

Regards

Bryan Curtin

  • Hi Bryan,

Thank you very much for your message. I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I hope you are enjoying your trip!

Noreen is actually parish liaison for Ballingarry Slieveardagh in Co. Tipperary as opposed to Ballingarry in Limerick.

It may be an idea to contact Limerick Genealogy to see if they can be of any assistance you. Please note that a fee may apply. Here are the contact details:
