Looking for descendants of Denis and Ann Canty Sullivan.  Most of their children were baptized at Old St Finbar's in Cork City, including my grandfather Timothy who was baptized in 1863.

  • Mary, a Chara,

My 2X Great Grand parents were married at the RC St.Finbar's in 1841, Denis O'Brien & Catherine Sullivan. Catherine's parents were Timothy Sullivan and Norry Hurley. Do any of those names have links to your ancestry?

  • I have no knowledge of Catherine Sullivan whose father was Timothy Sullivan.  Not saying this isn't my ancestors, just have never heard of them.  Thanks for asking.  There could be a connection, just haven't found it yet!

  • Greetings!

My grandmother was Julia O'Sullivan and was born in 1907 to James and Mary O'Sullivan.  She had a brother Dennis born in 1910.  Other brother is Edmond.  Sisters were Teresa and Nora (Kitty) that I know of.

My grandmother left Ireland for the USA when she was 16 alone.  I would love to find her family as we have a trip to Ireland scheduled for this Sept.

My grandmother returned to Ireland in the late 1970s and attached is a photo of her sister (I think this is Nora) and I am not sure who the priest is in the photo.

Any assistance would be very appreciated.

The 1911 Ireland census shows birthplace of Cork City and church of RC St Finn Barrs West.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,  I have not heard any of the names you mentioned.  I know nothing about my Sullivan ancestors further back than my grandfather Timothy's parents Denis and Ann Canty Sullivan from St Finbarr's.  I'd have to go to Ireland or hire somebody there to find more information.  It would be nice if a cousin were to still live in that area and post a message.  Mary Ellen (Sullivan) Hanson
