Hi there,

I am looking to link to any descendants / ancestors of Mark Martin and Bridget Gibney, married 20 Sep 1825 in Dunshaughlin, Meath. They had at least 5 children, my GGG Grandfather being John Martin born in 1830 in Dunshaughlin, Meath (Siblings, Bridget, Margaret, Mary and Jane). John moved to the Kyneton area of Victoria, Australia, presumably around the Gold rush era (circa 1850) and worked as a Miner in the Mt Blackwood region. I have done DNA testing through FTDNA and am on Gedmatch. Sincerely, Greg

  • I am interested in the Carroll name.  I have had a descendant paternal line done with FTDNA in name of Carrall/Carroll  377949 which shows 3 Colla connection. Please let me know if any match. He was on the first convict ship to arrive in Australia. I have had reseach done in Louth but I am not convinced of results so I  think the connection is to Meath so will now investigate this further.  I will be forwarding further message to this site

  • Hello from quarantined New York.     My g-g-grandmother was Julia Martin/ b. 1828 in Ireland (we know not where).   She died in New York in 1883 with one son, John Joseph Lynch b. 1860.    Have found a possible link with John Martin and Mary Condon because their baby, Alice Evangeline (died 1880) is buried with Julia.   Does this connect with your Martins?     Ann Marie

  • Good afternoon Ann Marie,

I can't see any connection at this stage. I don't have a Julia Martin in my records. My John Martin was born 1830 in Dunshaughlin, Meath. He married Maria/Mary Carroll in Australia in 1857. He had 4 sisters that we know of Bridget 1824, Margaret 1826, Mary 1827 and Jane 1829.

Good luck with your searching, Stay safe and Take care
