My husband's ancestor, Thomas Monaghan, was born in Dunmore in June 1821. He had a brother Daniel, born August 1816, also in Dunmore. By 1850 he was living in Wolverhampton, Stafford, England, where he married Mary Feeney on 23 Sep 1850. According to the marriage certificate, Thomas' father's name was Martin, and Mary's father's name was Patrick. Both fathers were deceased at the time they were married. Their first child, Daniel, was born in Wolverhampton on 4 Jul 1851.
Thomas emigrated to the United States, landing in New York on 13 Oct 1851. Mary and Daniel followed behind him at some as yet undetermined time, but probably within a year. They settled in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, where Thomas' brother Daniel and his wife, Margaret nee McMullen, born in Clonberne, Galway, also settled.
I'm looking for more information on Thomas and Daniel's parents and other siblings in Ireland.
