  • Here is the information that should be included:

Timothy Enright was 18 years of age when he enlisted in the 63rd Regiment of the British Army which was recruiting in Limerick.  After enlisting on 2 February 1852 Timothy spent 18 days in hospital.  He was listed as being of Croom Parish near Croom.  Why did he join up?  Where was the rest of his family at the time?

Timothy's first son was William Edward - perhaps his father's name.  Second daughter named Mary Jane - so perhaps either of these names could be his mother's name. Third son named Alfred Timothy - so his own name is included as matches the traditional naming pattern. Fourth son was Walter - so perhaps the name of Timothy's eldest brother.

Where do I go from here?   I would like to find his baptism and hence his birth year and parents' and sibling names.

  • Hi Carol,

There is a record of the baptism of Timothy Enright on www.rootsireland.ie/.

This is a pay site but the record will give you the parents' names and the parish.

  • Hi enrightdescendant,
    Did you get any information?
I was browsing today and saw your post.
Searching by the 63rd reg there is a Timothy Enright (3711 or 2711 reg number) also a John Enright (reg number 2269). John was invalided out on the 6th May 1855.
They were both in the Crimea War.
The actual Army records are not listed, these are from Medal lists.
    I hope this helps.
