Looking for relatives of Michael Walsh baptized in Lisdowney (RC) parish in 1837, son of Patrick Walsh and Mary Cormick. Emigrated to North America 1841 - 1851. Any information to possible connections would be appreciated.

    In conjunction with your research in St. Patrick's, Kilkenny and Thomastown, Kilkenny you could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for information on your Michael Walsh ancestor in Lisdowney. Roman Catholic records for Lisdowney begin in 1817 with some gaps, notably between 1853 and 1854.

    As before, you may also be able to find a record of the family on the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 and Griffith?s Valuation 1847-1864, the former was a tax on agricultural produce paid to the Church of Ireland and the latter was a land tax survey:
