Hi all

When families left Ireland in the 19th century, did they just disappear from the local parishes or was some kind of documentation recorded that they had moved on.  Did landowners ever keep records off tenants they had evicted?

Thanks Brian

  • They just disappeared

The landlords did keep records of who lived where see the Griffiths valuation records online 1848-1864

Not sure about eviction records, they are not kept but if you could find out on who's estate they lived you might find a mention in the estate records if they exist  for that estate

You can check for estate records with the National archive of Ireland or the National library of Ireland, or if in Northern Ireland PRONI

What year are we talking about here ?
