Hello,
I have a civil marriage record of Laurence Mullowney and Catherine Kenny, parish/district Tuam No. 1, address Carrantanlis. Husband's father: Thomas Mullowney, Wife's father: Patrick Kenny. They were married on March 2, 1867. I believe that at least one of their daughters (Mary T. Mullowney, born about 1870) emigrated to America around 1892 . I think that this Mary married my great uncle in Salem, Mass. Her marriage record in Salem (1896) gives her parents names (Lawrence M and Catherine Kenny). (It seems that the other children in the family may have emigrated to Lancashire.)
I have searched for this place name and cannot find it. Perhaps it was discontinued at some point! I have also seen it spelled as Carrowntanlis on another person's family tree.
Could you please help me to find this place? Thank you very much!

Cindy:
The spelling is Carrowntanlis, a townland in Tuam civil parish. Carrowntanlis is southwest of Dunmore and northeast of Tuam right off of the N83. Use Google Maps to find the exact location.

Thank you so much for your reply! I had looked on logainm more than once previously and it didn't come up at all for some reason. Then, after I wrote the last note, I looked again and found it! Perhaps the other site wasn't working for a while!
Many thanks!!

hi,
There was an Ellen Mullowney b.OCT 1873 to Lawrence Mullowny and Catherine Kenny.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F5TP-FHR
There is a Jameson family tree on ancestry that shows the following information.
Mary Mullowny
Birth 15 Jul 1870 in Carrowntanlis, Tuam, Galway, Ireland
Parents: Laurence Maloney / Mullowney 1838 – 1915
Catherine Kenny 1831 –Thomas Mullowney
Birth: Dec 1871 - Galway, Ireland
Death: Jan 1948 - Leigh, Lancashire, England
Parents: Laurence Maloney / Mullowney, Catherine KennyThe tree also has Ellen b.1873, and Patrick 1877-1957.
This would be Patrick MALONEY in 1901, he is married with a son, and his parents are still alive.
The Census states the father Lawrence is 50yo, he should be 62yo ??
and the wife Catherine is 70yo, which is about right.

They are the MOLONEYs by 1911, and the parents are still alive now aged 78y and 80y.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Carrowrevagh/Ca…The Census shows there were 4 children born to the couple, all of whom are still living.
There is a photo of Mary and Ellen together.
I have sent a message to the owner of the ancestry tree to see if she would like to get in touch with you.

SEAN
