Greetings - Interested in information re William Bradley ("gentleman") who appears in the 1670 Down Survey in Waterford (122 acres in Monakirka Townland; 243 acres in Carrickbarahane Townland). He was apparently one of the opportunistic Englishmen (either an "adventurer" or a discharged soldier) who took part in the Cromwellian plantations following the "Act of Satisfaction" in 1653. I did not find him in the on-line source The Cromwellian Settlement of Ireland (Prendergast, 1865), but would be interested in any information on him or his family (e.g., where he came from in England, whether he stayed in Waterford, his fate in the aftermath of the plantation, any descendants etc.).

My GGgrandfather, John Bradley (c1803 - 1891) came from Ireland (ostensibly Cork) in 1822 and farmed in Marlborough Township, near Ottawa. His father, who died on the voyage to Quebec, may have been James Bradley. His wife, Jane Taylor (c.1813 - 1893) was also born in Ireland, possibly the daughter of Charles Taylor. They were likely married in Upper Canada before 1831. Their first 3 sons were James, Charles and John. After many years of working on family history, I still don't know where my ancestors lived in Ireland.

I have no reason to assume any connection between my family and this William Bradley however, DNA evidence suggests that my Irish Bradley ancestors were not native-born (i.e., from the O'Brollachain clan), and therefore could possibly have been part of one of the many "plantations" in Ireland.

Thanks in advance for any advice/consideration on what my next steps might be!
