My grandmother was
born in the district of  Portumra, County Galway.
Her birth was registered in the District of Eyrecourt..
I wanted to get her birth certificate, do you know if I can locate a copy at
Galway Town Hall? 
If not, do you know where I could get a copy?  I would also like to find out where she lived

or if she has any other relatives i could visit...can you help me?

Here is the information I have from a cousin's birth certificate,,

Number 203. (must be it's place in the registry book)
Date and place of birth: 18 Dec. 1889
In superintendent registrar's district of Portumra, County Galway
Name: Ellen Conroy
Name & Dwelling Place of Father: John Conroy, Moorfield
Mother: Maria Conroy, formerly Muldoon
Rank/ Professionof Father: Farmer
Date registered: 16 Jan. 1890

Birth Registered in District of Eyrecourt

    The General Register Office for births/deaths/marriages is housed in Roscommon - records of births and deaths go back to 1864 while those of marriage go back to 1845

  • You can get a birth cert from the Galway public records office This will give you a definite address and having teh date of birth makes it very easy

    Civil Registration Service, Community Services, 25 Newcastle Road, Galway,
    Opening Hours: 10:00 to 4.30 Mon-Fri ( 0500 - 1130 EST)
    Contact: 091 546277 Fax: 091 582028

    One of the staff there is Fiona and you could send her an email request fiona.crosbynewell@hse.ie

    Cost approx €10 for full cert and 7 for a genealogical one

    If you are writing the proper country address is Ireland or ?ire (accent on the E - without the accent it is the dominion status from 1922-49)

    The names of the parents match and possible that sometimes names can interchange
