Death Notices & Obituaries that have appeared in local newspapers since 1839 have been compiled by Monaghan Library and are continually being updated. These obituary records are not online (only the indexes are).

These death notices can be viewed in-house. However, researchers unable to visit can request a copy by email or phone. (There will be a charge for this service)

Workhouse Records

There were four workhouses in Co. Monaghan. They were in Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clones & Monaghan. Records (with some years missing) for Carrickmacross and Castleblayney are held in the Monaghan County Library, Clones.
