I am serching for information about my great grandparents or any family records.

John Twaddell, retired police sergant. 85 Balfour Avenue, Belfast as at 1937 . His wifes name was Jane at this time, not sure if she was his original wife. Parents to John Victor and Albert Twaddell.

John Victor married Wilhelmina Emily Lewis on 27.12.26 at St Bartholomews, Belfast.

Albert was a bus driver, he lived at 12 Jerusalem Street, Belfast in 1937

Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    John Victor Hilland Twaddell was born in Co Cavan Oct ? Dec 1901, Vol 3, page 59. Albert was born in Belfast 17.7.1903. Mother?s maiden name is Hilland.

    Albert married Selina Foster 19.3.1930 in Belfast. You can view that marriage certificate on-line on the GRONI website for ?2. Use the search marriages option.

    There?s a record of a stillborn child of Albert & Lena Twaddell buried in public ground at the city cemetery in Belfast on 10.11.1930. Family addresses were 146 Ormeau Rd & 12 Jerusalem St.

    I also spotted this probate file which suggests John probably only had the one wife. She died intestate:

    Twaddell otherwise Twaddle Hannah Jane otherwise Jane of 85 Balfour Avenue Belfast died 7 June 1942 at The Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast Administration Belfast 1 September to John Twaddell retired sergeant R.I.C. the husband. Effects ?2390 15s.

    I noted this probate file. Not sure if it relates to your family or not. He died intestate. The probate file should be in PRONI but is not on-line yet.

    Twaddell, William Victor of 49 Wynchurch Road Ballymaconaghy Belfast retired sergeant Royal Ulster Constabulary died 13 October 1959 at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast Administration Belfast 16 November to Jane Eliza Twaddell the widow. Effects ?3521 16s. 4d.
