My Great Great Grandmother Bridget Ellen Coleman was born c 1845 to Dennis and Ellen Coleman from County Tyrone and I would appreciate any information which woudl help me in my research of this branch of my paternal ancestors.
Bridget Ellen married William Drysdale in Cape Town South Africa. She died on 23rd June 1915 in Rondebosch and is buried with William at St Peters, Observatory, Cape Town.

There are no census records for the mid 1800s in Ireland. Bridget?s birth also predates statutory birth registration, so to trace her you will need to rely on church records (where they survive).
You don?t say what denomination the family were but I?ll assume RC.
Some RC records are on-line on the rootsireland site. I have searched it but cannot find any trace of Bridget?s baptism. Without some idea of where in Co Antrim she came from it?s hard to suggest where to go next. You could search through every set of RC parish records for the country (there?s about 30 parishes) when these go on-line on the National Library site in July. Otherwise it?s a bit of a needle in a haystack .
