I recently found a baptism record on a 3x great uncle, I am hoping this record helps me find more information on this family. I would like to find information on the rest of the family, births, marriage, death, names, locations, etc.  The record I found is 

Hugh Clark, baptised 28 Dec 1828, baptism place, Culfeightrin, Antrim, Ireland, diocese Down and Connor, parents Hugh Clark and Margaret McAullay. Sponsors Pat Scally and Jane McNeill (?)  

My 3x great grandfather was the brother James H. Clark born 1823 Antrim. He married Catherine McRoberts in 1844, they had 2 children born in Ireland; John James Clark born 1844 and Margaret A. Clark born 1846. The family immigrated in 1847 to the USA.

I'm pretty sure there should be other siblings as well but I haven't found any. I suspect a Mary (married a John Black) but that isn't proven.  

Any information on the Clark, McAullay, McRoberts family would be much appreciated!

    I am descended from an Anne McAuley who married Charles McLean.  I am not sure if this message will find you, but if it does I would love to compare notes and see if our people could've been siblings perhaps?  I also have another ancestor who was Sarah Black so possibly there could be a connection there possibly.  Thanks Sheree

    I too, am seeking a McAuley connection to Culfeghtrin and will look into your information to see if there could be any links.

    I am seeking the birth and other family information about Rose or Rose Ann O'Connor and her parents.

    On her marriage certificate in June 1867 she is recorded as being 22 years of age and born in Cushendun, Antrim. Her parents were recorded as Daniel O'Connor, Farmer and Rose McCaulley. Estimated year of birth from marriage certificate is about 1845-46.

    There are O'CONNOR and McAULEY households co-located in Culfeitrin, specifically in the townland of West Torr in Griffiths Valuation and these names continue to appear around this area in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. Have you looked at these records?

    Do you have the marriage of James CLARK and Catherine McROBERTS? What does it tell you? What does the H. stand for? Have you found any other baptisms to these parents? Have you explored the sponsors families or the descendants of Hugh CLARK? It is also worth compiling the names of the children in birth order as this could give you clues to the previous generation.

    Have you had any DNA testing? I am now receiving DNA matches to McAULEY and McHENRY that originate in this parish. Adding DNA may also help you too.

    I can also recommend Perry's document - it was very interesting reading and may give you some additional clues or ideas.

  • Hi Sheree,

    Could you post the specific details of all the information you have, dates, places etc.? McAULEY is quite a common name that occurs frequently in the north of Ireland. That would help others to help you work out possible links.
