hello,

am researching my gr.gr. grandfather alexander marshall rodgers. i know he was born in

1816 in northern ireland..i am trying to narrow down exactly his location of birth. i believe his

father's name could be James..i know he had a sister named Ellen and she was born 1837.

alexander came to the u.s. i believe in the 1840's..and later his sister ellen followed.

i have no mother's name..i do know he had a niece by the name of Nell O'donnell..she also

came to the U.S. she i believe was born in the the 1870's.

alexander had a son named morgan fleming and with alex's middle name of marshall

i thought maybe those could be family maiden names.  i believe he was from either Armagh,

tyrone or antrim so am trying to put my threads out there to see if i can pinpoint where he

was from.thank you .

  • Criss:

Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie  has an 1815 baptismal record for an Alex Rodgers in Co. Armagh. This could be different person especially if you are convinced that your Alexander was born in 1816.

In any event, I wanted to alert you to the record.

Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.

  • HI ROGER,
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. I AM A MEMBER OF ROOTSIRELAND AND HAVE
BEEN DOING ALOT OF RESEARCH ON ALEXANDER.
JUST HAVING A VERY HARD TIME PINPOINTING HIS BIRTH. I CAME ACROSS
A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT COULD BE IN ARMAGH,
TYRONE OR ANTRIM. I ALSO WANT TO RESEARCH A TOWN CALLED
"COOKSTOWN"..IT SHOWED UP WHEN I HAD A DNA TEST DONE THROUGH
A RODGER'S COUSIN OF MINE. ALTHOUGH IT ISN'T ANYTHING CONCRETE.
I JUST THOUGHT I'D TRY AND EXHAUST ALL MY THREADS IN FINDING HIM
TO FURTHER MY RESEARCH OF THEM. APPEARS TO BE LOTS OF RODGER'S
    OUT THERE TOO..MAKES IT CONFUSING.
    THANKS AGAIN.
