My Grandfather was born 1882 in Tandragee. He had a brother William who was at his bedside when he died in 1938.He married in 1910 at the holy trinity belfast .Elizabeth/lizzie Woods born 1885  county monaghan.I can't seem to find who his mother was but I know his father was also Francis?.I have found Army records on Ancestry where he was not able to join the Army because he had a bad heart. They lived in Urney st Belfast and Wilton Square.Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Is this Francis in 1911? Note that he was born in Co Down (not Tandragee) and his wife in Belfast (not Monaghan).

If so, this may be him in 1901, with his mother:

Frank George Taylor married Mary Jane Page in Newtownards, Jul - Sept 1879, Vol 1, page 993.

You can order a photocopy from GRO Roscommon for ?4 per certificate. Put the place, year, quarter (where there is one), volume & page number on the application form (anywhere). http://www.groireland.ie/ You have to post or fax the form to them but they will e-mail the copy certificate to you if you wish. Tick the relevant box on the form.

Tradition was to marry in the bride?s church (assuming the couple attended different churches) so that may be the place to look for the bride?s baptism and that of any siblings. Unless it was a registry office marriage, the church will be on the certificate.
