I am looking for any information on the McCrary's/McCreary family that lived in Armaugh. I know they were in the States in 1766 Virginia. Joseph McCrary was born in 1748 in Ulster, Armaugh and married Anna Powell in 1766. From Virginina they went to North Carolina until their death. I am Looking for Joseph,s father from Armaugh. I need to know his name and if he came to the States too. Joseph had 9 children all in the States. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

As you may know, the start dates for parish records vary depending on the parish. As you do not know where in Co Armagh Joseph lived, it could be quite difficult to pin-point him in a search. You do have a date around which to search and his wife?s name. On that basis you could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie for a record of his marriage and baptisms of any children he may have had before leaving Ireland for the US (he may have had a child/children before leaving unknown to you).
