I cannot trace my McCann relatives before they moved to Canada. What I know follows. I'm searching for more definite information about these people and their predecessors
John McCann born 1799 in Armagh; died 1874 in Campellford, Ontario, Canada married to Ann Hobin born about 1808 Ireland had at least 1 child Jame McCann born about 1824 Armagh who in turn married Margaret Frasher born about 1825 in Ireland

Who are the Donnelly's you are researching? My GGrandfather James McCann married Catherine Donnelly in Magherafelt.

Also in search of information on a McCann ancestor: James McCann. He migrated to Charleston SC in 1748. He was a physician who may or may not have been married prior to emigrating. Don't have definite informatiion that G'G'pa James was from Armaugh, just note that McCanns are/were thick as fleas according to old record available on the internet. Making 1st trip to Ireland in Sept '13 and would be interested in finding what I may about roots 'over there'. Thanx!

My James McCann died in Barrow in Furness England. After his death, the remaining family members came to Philadellphia, PA. Hope your trip was productive.Jim McCann
