Hi,

My Ancestor is Joseph Dilworth, he was baptised 09 Dec 1815 Killyman, Tyrone, Ireland.

Arrived in New South Wales, Australia on board the ship Wilson with his Wife Elizabeth (nee Ditty) and Son Josias who was aged 12 months.

Details on the shipping record are:

Joseph Dilworth:

  • Farm Labourer, Presb, age 24, Read only.
  • Native Place: Killyman Tyrone
  • Father: John, Mother: Ruth  - both alive

Elizabeth Dilworth:

  • House Servant, Age 24, Read Only, Native Place, Tullaynsikcan, Co Tyrone
  • Father: John Ditty, Mother Nancy Ditty.

Children that I know of that were born in Ireland:

Stewart Henry Dillworth

  • Birth: 18 February 1839, Belfast, Antrim, Ireland (from IGI and now Family Search)

Josias Wilson Dilworth

  • Birth 1840-1841. The shipping record indicates his was aged 12 months on the 31st August 1841.

Joseph and Elizabeth went on to have another 6 children in New South Wales, before Elizabeth died in December of 1856.Joseph went on to marry his second wife (and my GG Grandmother) Mary Quirke in March 1857. Joseph and Mary had 6 children also. Joseph died in NSW in 1877.

John Dilworth and his wife Ruth also had the following children in addition to Joseph (from Family Search)

  • Thomas Dilworth: Baptised, 13 Mar 1812, Killyman, Tyrone
  • Robinson Dilworth: Baptised, 4 February 1827, Killyman, Tyrone

My guess is that there would be other children for John & Ruth between 1812 & 1827.

According to Family Search John Dilworth was born abt 1786 Killyman, Tyrone, Ireland

Any information about the family would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Sandra
