Hello

I have been trying to trace Joseph Williamson and his wife Hannah Lee.  Their sons James born about 1831 and Joseph born about 1836 arrived in Australia  aboard a ship called the White Star in 1857.  The names Blackwood and Simpson feature in the family names. James and Joseph both had sons called Simpson and Blackwood..  I am not sure if Lisnadill is correct as I thought they came from a place called Lesbos?.

 Thank You

Sheree

  • I'm attaching a copy of a page from the Rates Evaluation Book which covers the period 1884-1898.  It is for an area called Lisbane in the Parish of Eglish and it looks like the name is Blackwood Williamson.

  • Also attaching a transcript of Blackwood Williamson's Will - not known when he died but his Will was probated in 1919.

After leaving bequests to two cousins - Charles and Jane Williamson you will see that the remainder is left to the children of his brothers James and Joseph.

  • Blackwood Williamson in 1901 & 1911:

Blackwood moved to Garvaghy before 1911. His house in Lisbane is noted as roofless in 1913 in the revaluation records: VAL/12/B/10/10D (1908 - 1929). The 16? acres of land that went with it remained in his name till 1920.

  • Hello Cheree, my name is Fiona Williamson and I am from a place called Peak Hill which is in NSW Australia. My great grandfather was James Blackwood Williamson and his brother was Simpson Morrison Williamson. There were other brothers Gordon, Robert and Harry. Plus 3 sisters Sarah, Mattie and Elizabeth. Their parents were James and Hannah.  My mother has been researching the family tree and can certainly help you as she has dates, marriages etc and had written a little book with some of history as to when and how they all settled here at Warge Rock, Peak Hill Australia. if you are interested please contact me and I can pass on their details. Hope this helps!! Fiona
