My great-great grandfather Patrick Doyle married Mary Kinsella on Feb. 27th 1865 in Leighlinford, Carlow.  I have a birth date for him of March 8, 1839, and parents' names of Dennis Doyle and Eliza, but I have never been able to find a birth record indicating if he was also from Agha Parish, or Leighlinford, Leighlinbridge, or Old Leighlin.  Thanks.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on Roots Ireland and the only baptismal record I could locate was in 1832. See below. The record was in Bagenalstown parish. There is a Ballyloughan townland in Sliguff civil parish which is not too far from Agha parish. Not sure if this is the record for your ancestor.

  • Thank you so much! I have a feeling that it is my ancestor, because the birth month is correct but even though the birth year you cite is 7 years prior to the one I had, I have an 1870 US Census that lists his age as 15 years older than what he would have been had he been born in 1839.  I've seen huge discrepancies in birth years for some of my ancestors.

At least now I have a place to start digging!

    Thanks again.
