My great-great grandfather, Lewis Doyle was born in Kildavin in 1824. His parents were Timothy Doyle and Margaret Burns. He, his parents, and siblings all emigrated to Monroe, Michigan in 1842. Timothy died of cholera two months after arriving.

In 1877, he wrote a letter to his first cousin, John Doyle, at "The Hill", Pollerton Little, Carlow.

Does such a place still exist? Are there any pictures? Do you think there are any Doyles there who might be related?

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Pollerton Little is a 299 acre townland about three kilometers north of Carlow town. Use Google Maps. There is also a companion townland called Pollerton Big which is about 381 acres in size.

We have a parish liaison in Carlow so I will alert her to your message.

Let me know if you have not heard back in ten days or so.
