Hi, trying to find the parents of Adam Nixon. Born abt 1799 Denn Cavan. joined the British Army 1815, discharged 1825. Married Elizabeth Orielly 1828 and had 8 children,Ellen,James,Elizabeth,Mathew,Mary, Anne,Margaret,Edward.Emigrated to NZ in 1847 as a Fencible soldier and stayed there where they both died.He was my GG Granfather , but no one has any records as to who his parents or siblings were. Or any of his wife Elizabeth Orielly. no certs have any names on them. Word has it that other members of the family may have emigrated to the USA. appreciate any help or anyone who may be related.I had posted another post in the Cavan part, but had his birth place as Dingin, but on the Army Discharge it says Denn.

  • I found a marriage and purely based on the first name of the groom there might be a possiblity that they are the parents as the time frame matches too

    Take note they married in the Church of Ireland, I expect Adam was from English descent

  • Hi,thanks for that. the only thing is that i  know Adam and Elizabeth and family in NZ are all buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetary so im not sure about the above.

  • Hi, just a note re enlistment for Adam Nixon. Says on paper, enlisted at Cavan in the County of Cavan on the 9th day of October 1815 at the age of sixteen. 47th Lancashire Reg.of foot.
