My brick wall is Patrick McNamara that came to Co Mayo from Ennistymon Co Clare about 1789 and was employed as Coachman for Dennis Browne at Westport House.  Family lore claims he was one of many who came north to join forces with General Humbert in 1798 but I have nothing to back this up.  I believe his father's name was Thomas and when settled in Louisburgh Co Mayo, leased land from Lord Sligo  He married a Bourke.

  • I'd like to learn more about his life before he travelled to Mayo.  I realize there are many Patrick McNamaras in Ennistymon but wondered if anyone has done a study of Macs in the area that goes that far back?
