I am looking for the descends of James Moylan and his wife, Catherine Murtaugh,  who married in Killadysert, Ballyvohane, County Clare on 23 July 1870.

James and Catherine had 5 children; James b1877, Mary (Agnes) b1874, Thomas b1870, John b1876, Patrick 1872. All emigrated except Patrick.

Patrick remained in Ireland living with his parents until marring a Catherine, they had several children

I plan to be in Clare in August 2016 and would love to meet the descends of Patrick & Cathline.

I will appreciate any help that anyone can give.

Thank You,

Patricia Moylan-Purdy-Tobin

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked at the online Irish phone book and did not see any Moylan listings around Killadysert. http://www.eirphonebook.ie/# Make sure you use the Residential Tab.

What year did Patrick and Catherine marry? I could not find a civil marriage index record.

  • Hi Patricia:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  If you have any further information that you would like to share, I will get someone in the locality to try to meet you.  There are several people that I know of who are researching the Moylan family.  You can email me at:  tulla@irelandxo.com.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • After searchinh for a long time and with the help of many including Ireland Reaching Out and Peter  Beirne of the Local Studies Center, Clare Library, I traveled to my grandmother's Town, Kildysart, County Clare. The good people at the Post in Kildysart knew of a Moylan famil and provided directions. After after having little success following the instructions given, we were approached by a fellow who had overheard our inquiry and was kind enough to take us to the Moylan home. We were greated with open arms and this lady knew of my great uncle Patrick and was able to share some about him. She also confirmed he never married which explained why I could never find any descendents of his. His siblings, my grandmother and uncles, had left Ireland for the US. So at long last I was able to confirm where my family lived and what happened to Patrick.
