My great grandfather, Thomas Kinnane's obituary, written in 1919 in Hamilton, Victoria states that he was born near Ennis in County Clare. A number of certificates give his parents as Bartholemew/Bartley Kinnane and Mary Gorman. There is much confusion about his birth date, it is between 1825 and 1835. I have been able to find two records relating to Bartholemew Kinnanes in the Killaloe parish. One is a Bartholemew Kinnane in the Ejectment Books for County Clare in 1826 at Inagh and the other is a Batt Kinnane on the Lord Viscount Morphet Testimonial Roll 1841 in Inchicronane. I have no real evidence to connect these entries with my g grandfather, however to date ,these are the only two  Bartholemew Kinnanes  I have found in Co Clare. Bartholemew and Mary had at least one other child, a son Michael who also came to Australia, dying in Moonee Ponds Victoria in 1908. He was born in Clare c1832.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked for a baptismal record for Thomas with no success. The RC parish records for Ennis start in 1841 for baptisms.Ennis and Killaloe are about four parishes apart. If the obituary indicated Ennis then I would say that the records in Killaloe are likely unrelated.

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing.
