  • Dear Sid:

Thank you for your query.  A good place to start is through the Clare County Library website www.clarecountylibrary.ie/genealogy.  They have put a lot of very useful information online.  You might consider starting with the Tithe Applotment Books which might give you a clue as to the townland where both Cornelius and his wife's families came from.  I note the spelling of Cusic--be sure to check for Cusick, Cusack as well.  You can search the books by parish or by surname.  In addition, the Trade directories for County Clare might be helpful as well particularly as they were tailors and masons.

The very best of luck to you on your research.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contAct me.

    Kind regards,

    Jane
