I will be in Clare 14April 2013. Part of my family are from O'Callahan Mills. Daniel Kelly married Sarah Harkin in the early 1800's. Their children were Patrick (born abt. 1822), John, Mary(born abt 1826) & Margaret(b. 7/5/1834, Rockborough). They left Ireland to NY around 1849ish. They all ended up in Illinois.  Help anyone?? • Hi Ann:

i am the parish liaison for Tulla which is right beside O'Callaghan's Mills.  I will be happy to meet you and do a quick search for you to see if there are any graves, homestead, etc.  you can contact me at tulla@irelandxo.com.

if you go into the Clare County Library website, you will see a number of resources available to you for research.  You might find the Tithe Applotment Books a good place to start s they cover the 1820's and Daniel Kelly's name might be in them.

I will do some research from this side next week and let you know.

    Happy Easter and safe travels!

    kind regards,

    Jane

  • Hi:

I just did a very quick search on the library website and I noticed that there are Kelly's in several places in the Mills era at that time.  There is still a family there by that name, but I'm not sure if they would be related.  I will look into that for you.  As to the Harkin side, there was a Harkin family in Ballinahinch in the Tithe Applotment book (which is very close to the Mills).  Leave it with me, and I will see what I can find out.
