Terence Hynes migrated to Australia in 1850 from County Clare. single man.

Father could have been George Hynes.

  • Dear Pat:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  I have had a quick look for you in the Griffith's Valuation for County Clare.  There are two George Hynes listed:  one is in Derrymore East, Tulla and the other is in Clooney, Ennistymon.

I have the parish liaison for Tulla and I will have a quick look for you through our parish registers.  If you would like to message me with any more informatin, please do so at tulla@irelandxo.com.

You might have a look at the Clare Library website as it has a huge trove of information with regard to genealogy and family history.  The website is www.clarelibrary.ie.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Hi Jane, This is my 2nd attempt to reply.  Hope this works.

Terence was born c 1927, his Father's name was George, (from Mrg. Cert.). He arrived in

South Australia in 1850 or 1851 from Clare, Ireland.  We have never found proof of which ship he was on. He died her in Kapunda, South Australia on 12.12.1907 aged 80.  He was a farmer and could have possibly worked in a copper mine in Kapunda when he arrived.

    Thanks for your reply.  Pat.
