I am looking for the ancestors of James Farrell who married Beatrice (or Bridget) McNamarra about c1840.  They had children Annie Frances, b.1857, Mary Agnes b. 1845 & Honora Farrell, b.1946. in Co Clare.

  •  Hi,  this is new information I have found regardig Annie Frances Farrell.  Her parish is Killuran, Barony Tulla Lower, poor low union Tulla and Townland Violet Hill.  Her parents are James Farrell & Bridget McNamara. Siblings that I know are Mary Agnes and James.  I do not have a date of birth for Annie but born between 1857 and 1860.  Are you able to trace her birth date for me please?  I do think the Co Clare census of 1901 is correct for her father James see previous correspondence above.  I found a baptism date for James Jnr, Annie's brother for 9 February 1853, parents James Farrell  & Bridget McNamara, Violet Hill, sponsor Daniel Farrell from Clongeheen. Awaiting your reply.  Kathleen

  • Hi Katrey:

    Thanks for sending the new information as this is a big help.  The Broadford registers and the O'Callaghan's Mills registers are available through the National Library website at:  registers.nli.ie.  You can then access them by parish.  Here are three family references that I have found in the O'Callaghan's Mills registers which have been voluntarily transcribed and are available to view online through the Clare Library website:  http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/don_tran/bmd/baptism…;

    The names are:

    1.Michael baptised 8 October 1847  of Ballynabrone.

    2. Bridget 9 March 1851 of Gurtrarassa

    3. John 13 June 1842 of Bellinabrone (probably same place as Michael).

    In addition, I took a look for you through the Broadford parish registers and you will note that there is an entry as follows:

    Nancy born 15 September 1855 to James Farrell and Bridget McNamara of Violet Hill.  Norry Farrell and Michael Butler are the sponsors.  Here is the copy of the page for your reference:  http://registers.nli.ie/pages/vtls000634667_050.

    If you continue with the above pages, you might find further family members.  Please don't hesitate to get back to me with any further questions.  You can email at:  tulla@irelandxo.com

    All the best,

    Jane
