Jane Reddin was my great grandmother and she was born in Kilgobban. Her father's name was James Reddin and he was a farmer, possibly in Kilgobban.  She married Parick Coffey in 1839 in a church in Quin-Clooney. According to Griffith's Valuation, he rented land and office from Austin Butler in 1851

.If anyone has any information relating to this, I would appreciate learning about it, particularly the name of the church in which they married.

Thank you.

  • Dear Hillary:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  Kilbogoon/Kilboggon is a townland in the parish of Tulla.  There were families by both those surnames in the parish at that time.  I will have a look at the parish register for you and let you know what I am able to find.

In the meantime,  there is another member of the Tulla page who has done a lot of research on the Reddan family may be of help to you.  I will send him a message on your behalf and he may be able to shed further light.

The very best of luck to you on your research.  I will be in touch again shortly.

    Kind regards,

    Jane

  • Dear Hilary:

I have some information for you:

There is a marriage record in the Quin register for a Pat Coffee marrying a Jeni Reddan on 21 April 1839.

The local church in Quin would have been where the ceremony was performed.  I will see if there is any further information, however the records are fairly scant back that far.  I hope that this is of some assistance to you.

    Kind regards,

    Jane
