I hope to find information on my great grandfather, James O'Halloran, born in 1855 I believe and who was an assisted immigrant at age 19 on the ship Jerusalem to Australia.  He married Ann Jones in Sydney in 1877.  On board also were Edmund O'Halloran (25) and Ann O'Halloran (16) who may have been related.  The ship's manifest states that he was from Kilmore, Clare, a labourer, could read and write and was Roman Catholic.  I have no record of his death, nor his parents, so my research is blocked.  I access Ancestry.com so could follow any leads and would be grateful for any information you can provide.  My mother's side of my family tree is proving very difficult and I dearly want to know more.  Thankyou in advance.  I appreciate what you do and I am grateful to Roger in the Killimer parish for his help.

  • Hi:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  I will take a look for you in the Tulla registers.  The residence of Kilmore is interesting as that is a townland in the parish.  If you give me a week or so, I will get back to you.  If you have further information that you feel might be helpful/useful, please email me at:  tulla@irelandxo.com.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Thankyou so much for your reply, Jane.  Unfortunately I can provide no further information than that above.  I do appreciate your researching for me and do hope that you can find out more.  My mother's side of my ancestral tree is proving very difficult and sadly I have no one left to ask either.
