Mary Henessy was reportedly born September 18, 1864. At her death in 1907, her parents' names were given as Michael Henesy and Mary Dewey. I saw an entry in the IGI for a Mary Henessy born Sept. 17, 1864 in Aghada to Michael Henessy & Mary Duhig. Does anyone in Aghada know if this Mary Henessy went to the USA?
In the USA, Mary Henesy married James E. Moore (a Protestant). When they died within months of each other in 1907, a family story says that her parents Michael & Mary Henessy came from Ireland to take the youngest child, baby Ruth, back to be raised Catholic. Ruth was raised in the USA, however.
I would like to know more about Mary Henessy, born 1864. She would have come to the USA at an age less than 20 years old, it seems. Thank you for any information!

I located a transcription of Mary's baptismal record and it was on the date you found. I also looked from 1859-1869 and Mary had four siblings: John 1860, Patrick 1861, Margaret 1863 and Catherine 1866. I was unable to locate a 1901 census record. Do you know what townland the family lived? Michael and Mary would have been likely 70+ in 1907 which would be a long journey to go to the USA.

Thank you for the other baptisms of children of Michael & Mary (Duhig) Hennessy. I really don't know more about my Mary Henessy in Ireland.
In the US census taken 1900, Mary uses the middle initial A. She says she has been married 18 years, so m. about 1882. Her oldest child was born Feb 2, 1885; she has had four children and all four are living with her in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
I have not positively identified Mary Henessy in the US 1880 census. There is a woman of the proper age in Philadelphia County. She is listed as the niece of John HENRY age 50 with his wife Margaret age 33. All were born in Ireland. However, I do not know how long before her marriage to James Emmet MOORE Mary came to the USA.
Is there any way to know if any of the Henessy family of Aghada left there for the USA?
