Hello and thank you.  I have been to all of the sites I can find and can't locate additional information, I hope you can help.

1911 Cenus on John Coleman 56,

                            Mary Coleman 40

William 17, John 15, Denis 13, Ellen 12 (My grandmother who married John Beausang and left for Boston MA in 1923) Edmond 10, Margaret 7 and Michael 5.

I am looking to find any additional information on any of above.  esp. would like to further research back in time however, I have no idea who great grandmother Mary (possibly Margaret) was.

I know they lived at 2 Maytown, Ballentemple, Cork in 1911 and their landlord was Mountifort Longfield.

    I believe this is the civil marriage index record for the marriage of John Coleman and Mary. Not sure if she was Mary O'Brien or Mary Dorgan. Maytown is in the Middleton registration district and this was the only 1893 marriage record for a John Coleman. Four marriages were recorded on this page which accounts for the four female names. A copy of this marriage record can be obtained from the GRO. Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx


    Hit the link for a marriage certificate in English. A screen pops up asking for a User Name and Password. Hit cancel and the form will appear. Fill out the form. Make sure you ask for a copy and not a certificate. Provide the quarter/year of marriage, registration district ( Middleton) and the volume and page number ( 4 and 339). A copy costs around 4 euros. You can ask the GRO to e-mail the copy to you.


    I also looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ballintemple. There was a John Coleman listed in Maytown who is likely John Colemna's father. See link below.

  • Thank you so much for your help.  My Uncle John Beausang who lives in Missouri is 89 and I am sending information to him and his family regarding their roots.  I know he had visited his Uncle Edmond Coleman many years ago in Ireland in County Cork, I am not sure what happened to all of the family of my grandmothers but I will be looking them up soon also as  I am also planning on visiting next year with my sister Kathleen.  Your help is very much appreciated!

  • Mary Dorgan is my relative. You can find her and John Coleman at my website: www.dorgan-family.com

    Simply do a search for her name or John Coleman's name.

    I also have Beausangs in my family tree.
