  • HI Mike,

I think the spelling you need is Reendacussane, which is a townland area of Castlehaven parish. Also Abbeystrowry and Creagh are the two civil parishes associated with Skibbereen.

You could try posting as much information as you can regarding these individuals on the appropriate parish pages. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to assist you.

If you haven't already, you can try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) for relatives of Daniel & Ellen. The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38): Microfilm copies of the books for all of Ireland are available at the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/tithe-applotment-books-and-the-primary-griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Griffith's is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com or here: www.failteromhat.com Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at.

  • Hi Mike,

Ellen Minihane was a sister to my great, great grandfather, Michael Minihane.  Michael's wife was Mariah McCarthy, and I have a hunch that Mariah was a sister to Daniel McCarthy who Ellen Minihane married.  Hope this makes sense.

I have a lot of research on this family which eventually went to Canada and some migrated south to the US.

Please contact me at barbwalsh49@gmail.com and we can explore this connection.
