My great grandfather was baptized in Churchtown on 1 June 1858(born in May 1858) His parents were Patrick Regan and Mary Horgan.  They were married in Churchtown on 20 june 1853, the witnesses were Denis McCarthy and Cors Tierney according to rootsireland.ie.  At the time of the marriage Patrick's address was listed as Charleville and Mary Horgan's as Annagh.  At the time of Michael's birth they were still living in Annagh.

Michael's siblings were

Denis born 1854

David born 1856

Honora born 1859

Timothy born 1862

Margaret born 1864

Patrick born 1867

Bridget born 1869

Cornelius born 1870

I know that David emigrated to the US in 1874 and Mary Horgan Regan emigrated with Denis, Michael, Margaret, patrick and Cornelius emigrated to NYC in July 1881.

I do not know what happened to Patrick Regan the father or the other siblings Honora, Timothy and Bridget.

Mary Horgan's parents were David Horgan and Margaret Callaghan.

I was in Churchtown last week and attended mass at St Nicholas -- an emotional time to be sure.  The proprietors of Kelly's convenince store were so gracious and helpful in directing me to Annagh but did not know of any Regans currently living in the area.

Any help would be so appreciated.

  • Dear Joanne

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Churchtown.

I wonder would it be useful to check Holy Cross graveyard in Charleville for any Regan Graves:
