Looking for info on Johanna Hickey b. 1793, Mallow Cork. Maiden name unknown.  Left Ireland in 1825 with the Peter Robinson Settlers to settle in Peterborough Canada.  She was a widow with 6 children.  She was my fourth great grandmother.

  • psv . A Big number of assisted emigrants from Mitchelstown / Brigown (civil parish) left in 1825 to clear estates of agricultural workers in arable crops. It became more lucrative for the Kingston landlord to operate pastoral farming . Others from Glanworth and Ballygiblin, Cecilstown Mallow went also on the Peter Robinson ships. Google Peter Robinson emigrants book by McKay will give an insight. Peterborough descendants are coming to Cork this September. I will forward enquiry to others in the area.
